FontCreator contains several windows. When you open a font, the Glyph Overview window shows all available glyphs. A glyph is a graphical placeholder for a character. To modify a character, you need to edit the glyph that represents the character.

From the Glyph Overview window you can double-click a glyph in order to open a Glyph Edit window and edit the selected glyph. A simple glyph consists of a series of contours. A contour is defined by a series of points. In order to distinct between contour and point related operations, you can choose to work in contour or point mode. At all times you can change between contour and point mode. One way to do this is by selecting the appropriate Mode from the View menu.

The Import Image feature converts images to outlines.

Use the Automatic Naming wizard to change the name of a font.

Map a character to a glyph with this window.

Designing glyphs can be very complicated. The Font Validation wizard identifies common potential problems and if possible points you to the specific item (e.g. glyphs, contours and coordinates). It validates all glyphs and optionally fixes detected problems.
